The TDA Bulls were coming off of a Bye week when they took to the field on Friday night looking to continue their undefeated season versus their closest competitor, 2nd placed Genesis. The Bulls were without regulars Kim, Alena, Justin and Phil so Eddie was brought in as a sub to give TDA just enough to field a full lineup with no subs.

The first half started sluggishly for both teams as maybe the Holiday food and drink consumption was holding everyone back? Carolyn ended up breaking the deadlock as her free kick took a deflection past the helpless keeper for a 1-0 lead. TDA continued pushing forward but were allowing some chances at the other end and Genesis tied the game with a nice shot from distance. But that goal woke the Bulls up and Simon and Eddie bumped the lead up to 3-1 before Carolyn grabbed her second just before halftime with a nice first touch and finish. It was 5-1 at the break and the Bulls were looking in control. read more

Crown (Winter I 2016) Game 7 Recap

Crown returned from Christmas with a game v. The Little Kickers as they looked to improve on their 4-2 record so far this season. Josh and Jeremy were out so Simon and Shawn held down the defense on this night, more on that later…

Crown had the edge in possession in the first half and it was not long before Simon went on a run and snuck on in with the aid of a defection. The Kickers were looking dangerous when they counter attacked, and after Shawn and Mark had increased Crown’s lead, they cut right back into it with a pair of goals. Eddie finished off a nice play with a goal late in the half and Crown went into the break with a 4-2 lead. Here are a couple of sequences from the 1st half action: read more

Crown (Winter I 2016) Game 6 Recap

Crown took to the field on Wednesday to take on DW Energy FC for the second time this season, looking to improve upon the 8-1 beating they took last time out. You knew the holiday season was upon us as finding enough players was becoming an issue as the day went on. In the end, regulars Mark (out of town), Eddie (socializing with the Dallas elite), Josh (stuffy nose) and Jeremy (working out 🏋💪) were missing and only Alex was available from all the possible subs so Crown were not fully stocked up, but DW had similar issues so all was fair. read more

TDA Bulls (Winter I 2016) Game 5 Recap

Friday night saw a matchup between the TDA Bulls (4-0) and FC Peeps (0-4). TDA were without three regulars as Doug, Justin and Alena were out so Alex was called into action as a sub, this time out of the net though.

The Bulls went on the early attack, however it took longer than usual to get the opening goal, but it eventually came as Kim fired a free kick in…Simon with the assist for making her take it as Phil and Alex were hovering around. After FC Peeps cut the lead in half, Simon scored and Phil blasted in a long range effort to push the lead to 4-1. Alex then set up Claudia for a tap-in and Kim had her second after some good pressure from Carolyn forced a turnover. TDA were up 8-1 at the half and cruising to another win. read more

Crown (Winter I 2016) Game 5 Recap

Crown were happy to see their opponent MG2 were able to field a team on this night as they had forfeited two of their four games so far this season. But while MG2 did have a full lineup for the majority of the game, they did begin down a man so Crown went on the attack to try to establish an early lead as was evidenced by this action pic of Simon and Mark:

The “British Invasion” eventually teamed up to give Crown a 2-0 lead as both Simon and Brian scored. Phil looked to build on the lead but could not convert this sharp-angled attempt: read more

TDA Bulls (Winter I 2016) Game 4 Recap

It was the night of the TDA Holiday Party so the Bulls were without Carolyn and Alena, plus Tyler and Justin were also out for other reasons. So our version of the power couple was called in to action as the Perdomos, Alex and Vanessa were in attendance. The Bulls were taking on the Ball Blasters, a team they defeated earlier in the season.

The Bulls jumped out to an early 2-0 lead thanks to a goal from Kim but it became apparent at the other end that our substitute keeper had decided he was only going to use his feet in the net on this night. You’ve probably heard of the Headless Horseman, meet the strange but effective Armless Alex: read more
