Coed O30 (Summer I 2017) Championship Recap

It was Friday night and time for the Coed O30 (Summer I) Championship. It came as no surprise that the TDA Bulls were in contention for the title after another successful regular season saw them dominate once again. Here is a look at those Final Regular Season Standings as TDA finished in 1st place yet again:

You may notice a L on there but it was a Forfeit due to almost all our players competing in the Jackson Project Tournament that Friday night. Also the Bulls’ opposition was not actually known until they arrived as there was a final regular season matchup earlier in the night that had major implications. Barcelona #1 and the SharpShooters faced off with the latter needing an upset win to overturn a two point gap and gain entry into the Championship, and they did just that with a 6-3 win. And so we had our two finalists. Half of the TDA squad was missing (Doug, Brandon, Justin, Kim, Tara, Carolyn) so the remaining players made up a lineup with no subs (Tyler, Ricardo, Simon, Glen, Alena, Jorden, Katie). TDA Bulls (Summer I 2017) Game 5 Recap

First off, I didn’t really lie, I did not think you would see me on the field for a few games but a sub opportunity opened up as Justin was off flying a kite somewhere. Spreadsheet FC, I mean TDA were taking on a new addition to the division, the Sharpshooters, who had opened up their season with a perfect 3-0 record so something had to give as the Bulls put their undefeated record on the line. Here is your recap, with videos again 🎉!

TDA Bulls v Sharpshooters:

The Bulls meant business from the get go as they went on the offensive, pinning the Sharpshooters back in their own zone and Brandon eventually found the opener with a shot from distance, 1-0. Simon then hit the inside of the post but Carolyn was there to put the rebound in and it was 3-0. A really nice team goal was next as Ricardo to Jorden to Carolyn, tic-tac-toe, and it was 5-0 at the half. read more

TDA Bulls (Summer I 2017) Game 4 Recap

The TDA Bulls were back in action on Friday night for their fourth game of the season, and Simon was also back for his scheduled sub game, all thanks to the amazing spreadsheet of course, so you get to read another Special Edition. Let’s first get a mini-recap of their third game out of the way, followed by a more in depth one. And guess what?, it was video night! Exciting, huh?

TDA Bulls v Barcelona #1:

The Bulls played a solid game and came away with an 8-2 win, led by a pair of goals from Brandon, plus singles from Kim, Jordan and Alena. Brandon also had one wrongly disallowed so his almost hat trick gives him the POTG for this one, pretty sexist list so far with Tyler, Doug and Brandon all tied with one each, just saying… read more

TDA Bulls (Summer I 2017) Game 2 Recap

It’s Special Edition time! As mentioned at the end of last season the TDA Bulls are going through a bit of a transitionary period with a few roster changes and a management switch as Doug “Spreadsheet” Hoernig has taken over the reins from Carolyn. A few players are sharing a spot, including myself, so you will get periodic game recaps when I am in attendance, which luckily for you all was last night. Let’s first welcome a few new faces as Glen, Jordan and Tara have joined the fold and I am sure they are eagerly awaiting being a part of a lego re-enactment, right? Well you know what to do, impress me with skill or get involved in a scandalous game moment and I will make you famous, just ask Doug, he is a regular in the club. read more

Coed O30 (Spring I 2017) Championship Recap

It was the final game of the Spring O30 Coed season on Friday night as the TDA Bulls took on Sorry For Partying for the playoff Championship. The Bulls were running into some player issues in the lead up as starting goalie Tyler had to go out of town for work and backup Ryan was not available. With Ricardo picking up an injury earlier in the week the Bulls were left with the exact minimum amount of guys but having to put someone in net who had never played before. Brandon was kind enough to offer to play the first half. Then 30 mins before game time we were told that Justin was stuck in Dallas so Ricardo decided to come and try to play net. read more

TDA Bulls (Spring I 2017) Semi-Final Recap

It was playoffs time in the Coed O30 Friday league at BlueSky Keller as the TDA Bulls (#1) took on Barcelona (#4) in a semi-final matchup. The Bulls were the favorite after winning the regular season but had lost to Barcelona last Friday so a tough game was expected. It was an almost full strength Bulls lineup as Claudia was the only player missing. Here’s the recap:

The game finally began after a delay due to an expired player card for Barcelona and it was TDA, once again in their unfamiliar red jerseys 😡, who dominated the early going. The pressure finally paid off when the returning Doug fired a shot in the top corner to give the Bulls the 1-0 lead. There was then another delay as the playoff eligibility of a pair of Barcelona players was being assessed before play started up again. TDA continued to attack looking to build on their lead, and after some near misses and goalkeeper saves, Simon set up Alena to make it 3-0. There was yet another delay as TDA keeper Tyler needed some injury attention after making a save. The ref called for some water to which Ricardo obliged by firing a bottle from the bench, somewhat inaccurately (that’s being nice), into the side of Simon’s head!, here is a view of the carnage: read more

TDA Bulls (Spring I 2017) Game 8 Recap

The TDA Bulls wrapped up their regular season on Friday night in a game v. Barcelona #1. First place was already a guarantee but both these teams come to play every night so it was expected to be a good one. There was a major pre-game announcement as the news trickled in that Doug had his unjust suspension reduced and was back eligible to play, it was about time the “Attica!, Attica!” chants were taken seriously, unfortunately a back injury delayed his return. Justin was also missing for the men so Brandon got the call to sub once again. For the ladies, Captain Carolyn was the only omission as she went out of town which practically handed the Golden Boot to Kim. And the final bit of pre-game info to mention is that Barcelona wears a shade of green so instead of wearing the bibs (because those are for babies) the Bulls decided to wear Red on this night. Here is how the action went down: read more

TDA Bulls (Spring I 2017) Game 7 Recap

It was 1st v 2nd on Friday night as the TDA Bulls took on Reccos FC but there was the added complication of it being Spring Break week and St. Patrick’s Day so the Bulls were struggling to field a full lineup. Already without the suspended Doug, TDA were also without the services of Captain Carolyn, Tyler, Ricardo and Claudia for various reasons. So Ryan was called in to sub in the goal and Brandon on the field. There was also a scare in the lead up to the game as Kim had some babysitting issues but they were resolved so the Bulls had just enough to field a full team with no subs. read more

TDA Bulls (Spring I 2017) Game 6 Recap

It was Friday night once again which meant that the TDA Bulls were back in action taking on the Ball Blasters. The Bulls would have to do without star defender Doug for the remainder of the season as he was given an additional suspension after last week’s unjust Red card. We would all like to stage a protest to have Doug released but it wouldn’t do any good so for now he remains like this:

Kim was delayed due to coming from the airport, and with Claudia unable to make it and Brandon with some last minute babysitter issues, TDA began the game with no subs at the bench. This was a matchup of the 1st place team versus the last place team and it showed in the 1st half as the Bulls built a 13-0 lead, led by 5 goals from Captain Carolyn, a pair from Justin and a single from Alena. read more

TDA Bulls (Spring I 2017) Game 5 Recap

After last week’s grudge match, the TDA Bulls returned to the field v. Genesis in their first meeting since last season’s Championship Final. There was a tweak since that game as Brandon was now back where he belonged with the Bulls and he was called to sub for this one with Justin out, most likely poolside in a tropical location. It was also the young man’s Birthday the day before so there was a little pre-game at Doug’s to toast his youngness:

Unfortunately, B was enduring a nightmarish 1hr+ drive with multiple delays so he never made it…😢: read more
